{ What I MAde ~ Watercolor Kit #2 }

{ What I MAde ~ Watercolor Kit #2 }
The watercolor kit I mentioned in previous post. I used tube watercolor, empty plastic containers and a metal cigar box to make this kit. I need to be able take out the individual watercolor container out of the metal box, so at first I used double-sided tape and magnetic sheet to stick them together. After that failed, I used hot glue to attach the magnetic sheet. Then it failed as well. At the end I decided to just use glue tack without the magnetic sheet. It works perfectly! I label each individual container with a layer of washi tape and then a layer of plastic tape to protect it against water. (It is a watercolor kit afterall...) Now I can take my watercolor kit out more often and play :D

I have 3 sets of pre-cut colour papers at home for years and finally decided to make them into something fun and practial. I covered the front and back covers with MT washi tapes, glued them onto thick cardboards, hole punched and added plastic binding ring. Done!~
The pages inside are for writing down my "everyday to-do" and "small happiness".  ("Small happiness" means "小確幸" in Japanese.) I now carry this mini-book in my handbag with me everywhere~ It makes me happy just looking at it. :D

I was also thinking of doing a swap with some of the tapes. Will work out the details later on.

{ MT ex Hong Kong Photos MT紙膠帶香港展現場! ~ Oct 11, 2013 }

The MT ex Hong Kong exhibition occupies a very small section of the Eslite bookstore on the 9th floor of the plaza. The ceiling and the floor is decorated with MT masking tapes of various colours. It is rather lovely. :)
I waited for at least 2 hours to get into this small section! 2 hours!! My gosh! You can tell from the photos that there are tons of people there!
A small wall panel is covered with beautiful masking tapes! Many of them are from special MT ex editions from Japan. I managed to buy some of these here since they're not usually available at other local stores.
There are a table of masking tapes available for people to try and play with like in other MT ex exhibitons overseas. I'm DISAPPOINTED at some of the local HK/Mandarin speaking people there. These tapes are meant for people to play and try their hands with masking tapes, but almost 99% of the people gathering around the table are so so greedy! They just wrapped these tapes layers after layers around the MT DMs . I understand that these masking tapes are not exactly cheap, but people can always ask their friends to share and exchange the tapes with others. Do they even appreciate these beautiful tapes?
Then I have to wait for another 30-45 minutes to check out. I think the Eslite and the MT officials under estimated the number of people interested in these special edition tapes.  I went there around 11:35 am, just 1 1/2 hour after the bookstore is open, by the time I went to check out, 2 sets of the special edition tapes are gone already. I did not even get to see what they look like in real life...

I will post photos of the masking tapes I got later on tonight after my night class. :D

{ MT Ex Hong Kong! MT 紙膠帶香港展! Oct 11, 2013 }

{ MT Ex Hong Kong! MT 紙膠帶香港展! Oct 11, 2013 }
Finally! The MT Ex Hong Kong is here! I went to visit the Eslite this morning to get these beautiful goodies! Many of the Hong Kong special edition were sold out already! :(  I only managed to get a 1-2 extra for the special Hong Kong ones and then some for the MT ex ones. Will post more photos of them tomorrow!

{ What I MAde ~ Diy Washi Tape, Sept 2013 }

{ What I MAde ~ Diy Washi Tape, Sept 2013 }
I came across youtube videos by Jennibellie and The Artistic Pagan on making washi tapes. I followed the instructions by The Artistic Pagan to create my first set of tapes. (Click to see her videos for detailed instructions.) I'm going to test them out and will make adjustment on them for the second set later on.
Minor changes:
  • I used adhesive tape for bandages from Daiso instead of masking tape since the ones carried by my local store are of such poor qualities. I will look for a better on from other stores after I used up this roll.
  • I used transparent watercolours and did have to do a few layers for them to get onto the tapes due to the  material. I don't think it will be an issue if you use real masking tape.
  • I used Stazon (white and black cherry) since I lost my black stamp pad.
  • I really need to make smaller stamps to make my washi tapes in the future. I don't really have a lot of small pattern stamps around.
  • I didn't apply any "seal" onto the finished tapes will see if the colours will come off after a while.
Have fun and enjoy! :D

P.S. I tried to use the above washi tapes, please DO NOT use the Daiso bandage adhesive tape, not sticky at all after I rolled them on my plastic sheet! I used glue to stick the tape onto paper. Also use something to seal the colours if you want to try watercolour.

{ What I MAde ~ Portable Masking Tape Sheet ~ May 30, 2013 }

{ What I MAde ~ Portable Masking Tape Sheet ~ May 30, 2013 }
Mr. C and I are planning a trip to Japan. I will try to do art journal whenever possible. To do so, I have to cut down on the supplies and only carry what is necessary. ==>  My art journal + 1 pencil, 3 pens + masking tape.
I use masking tape to stick cards, loose paper or anything interesting to my journal, so I decided to make a portable masking tape sheet that fits my leather pen case. (Many bloggers from Taiwan have shared how they made it.) All you need is a piece of plastic sheet, mine is a recycle plastic box. Cut it down to the right size you needed. Wrap any masking tapes you like and done! :D Super easy and it allows us to carry and use all the beautiful masking tapes that many of us have been collecting!

{ What I MAde ~ Masking Tape Tabs ~ April 2013 }

{ What I MAde ~ Masking Tape Tabs April 2013 }
After I finished the collage with the leaflet from the Andy Warhol exhibition, I have some scrap paper left. So decided to make some masking tape tabs for my art journal.
  1. Cut the paper down to the right size.
  2. Pick the masking tape you like and wrap about the paper tab. Round the corners.
  3. Done!

Many spent their early life working and taking care of their families so they seldom had time to travel. So this is a way for them to accomplish one of their big dreams. :D
  • February 9th: Mr. C and I went to the flower market in Shatin. We picked up a pot of beautiful flowers for the Chinese New Year. It is now enjoying sunshine in our roof garden.
  • February 10th: The 1st day of the Chinese New Year! It is the Year of Snake :)~
  • February 14th: I tried to make Tiramisu at home for the first time! It doesn't look very nice but sure tasted heavenly! :)
