Working on making sketches come to life. One of it is a small leather pouch that can be carried around like a mini clutch. I'm going to use it as a pen case for the time being. The mandala on the front cover is hand-drawn and transferred onto the leather. :D

I love the Brave pin so much that I want to wear it everyday. I started on the sketches and at first it was going to be part of an earring (too heavy!), so I made a bracelet with scrap piece of leather. Now the pin is with me always. I also made a pocket mirror holder for the kitty mirror from Gemma Correll. Love it! :D

My old wallet is starting to fall apart, so I cut up an old leather notebook and used it to make a new wallet. It only has card compartments since I already have a small coin purse. I like the leather's cream color and added an extra piece of decoration to the cover.

I recently saw a tutorial on the web about making leather book with bookbinding post and immediately connect the idea with the mandalas that I drew. I scanned one of the mandalas I drew and transfered it onto the leather book cover. I'm going to use this to store my mandala drawings and water color drawings in the future. I just realized that I have not posted what I made for Mr. C's birthday in Novemeber coz he has been using it since he got it. So I took a few photos of it when he is home. I have redesigned the leather cardholder for Mr. C. He likes this one a lot more than the old one since this is thinner and easier to get the card out. :) I'm glad that he likes to use it. Now I just have to figure out what to make him for Christmas...

I have been sicked for 5 days last week. Mr. C took a week off and we were planning on going out for a relax week, but since I got sick, we spent much time at home... :( We did manage to go out last Sat and Sun when I felt better to go outside. This photo album was done right after I finished the leather pen case and I will use it to keep photos of the leather products I made. P.S. Oh I'm working on a small project for Mr. C. for our dating anniversary on Sept 3! :)

I made this leather pen case coz I really need a case to organize my art pencils and my writing pens. After looking online for a while, I decided to make my own since I need a case that can stand up while I draw/doodle/play/create. I love how this turns out. I can use this for my color pencils or my Ultra Fine Point Sharpie markers depending on what projects I'm working on at the time. Will make a few of them and put them in my shop later on.

I love the idea of doing a I'm Thankful for ... art challenge and I have been doing grateful journal everyday for a while now. ARTchix Studio is hosting the challenge and is offering the printable Thankful time sheet for people to play with. Here is my entry for the art challenge.

I opened the printable files on computer, type up what I'm thankful for, made some changes to the measurment of the sheet. Read the transfer sheet instruction in case you need to flip the image or the words on your computer. ( Measure your wrist and made the adjustment accordingly. Make sure to leave space for the snap buttons. ) Print out and cut transfer sheet then transfer the image onto the leather. Cut off any leather scrap. Add the snap buttons and the Thankful Leather Bracelet is done!

I made a leather notebook for my daily to-do list and mini sketchbook. It is one of the three notebooks that I carry around with me when I'm working. The Picasso notebook at the back is for projects, the navy blue one is for idea sketching and notepaper. I usually only carry the small one when I'm off.  The measurement is based on my Traveler's notebook. I'm going to try to engrave on the leather cover later when I get the tools needed.

What I Made # 24 - Leather Sketchbook.

I got a sketchbook for my trip to Cambodia. It contains lots of memories and has also became some sort of an art journal - sketchbook - idea book. When I came back to Hong Kong, I decided to make a leather cover for it since it is a very good size to work with, small enough to carry around all day, and can be replaced at a reasonable price. Here is what the end result looks like. I have also included a rough sketch of the pattern used here.  Material needed: a piece of sturdy leather, sketch paper, scissor or cutter, wax thread, leather craft tool for punching holes, sewing needles, embellishment and snap button.  Take measurement of your notebook or sketchbook, mark down on a piece of paper. Mine is roughly 11.5cm x 15cm. Add 0.5cm margin to both the top and bottom. Wrap a piece of paper around the sketchbook and make sure you have enough material before cutting the leather. Take a rough measurement of your pens to determine where the cuts for pen slot are going to be, the width and length of the cut. (Part E of the sketch) Also determine where you would like to add embellishment on the cover, then mark down the measurement for the snap button strip  to be cut from the back cover ( Part F of the sketch ) Cut out the paper and trace the measurement and marks onto a piece of leather. Punch holes and add on the embellishment, cut the pen slot and snap button strip.  Add the snap buttom, fold along the two lines and glue the margins together. (Part A and B together, same for part C and D) Wait till completely dry. Then punch holes along the 0.5cm margin line to sew the cover together. Finish!! Enjoy :) Experiment and see what different designs you can come up with.

I call this "two face" coz I used different leather pieces and designs for the front and back. (Well honestly I was trying to use up some of my leather scrap...) I made this before Christmas 2011, but forgot to post about it. I use it mainly as a small pouch for my rings, bracelet and other things to keep in my bag.  I didn't write a tutorial for it since it is quite simple and easy to make. What I MAde #19 Inspired by Cliprite.

What you need: a piece of scrap leather (mine is about 19cm x 2.5cm and 1mm thick), ruler, cutter, needles, nylon thread, some sort of punching tool. (I use a set of leather craft punching tools, but they can be easily replaced with other house hold items.) Decide the words and font you would like to use before cutting the leather strip. You may need a larger or smaller piece. Leather strip can be replaced with fake leather as long as it is sturdy but not too thick.

Punch holds along the side of the leather strip. Sew. Decide which side is the front side of the bookmark. Punch holes on the front side. Depending on the size of the strip. The distance between the punch holes is 4mm for mine. Sew in the letters. Cut a slot at the back, put a paper clip in. Sew at least 4 holes at the middle of the bookmark to hold it together. Done! :D Sew in any letters you like and this will make a great gift for book lovers in your life.

This is the second leather bag I made. This one is a smaller shoulder bag since I don't want to hurt my back. This smaller the bag is, the more it makes me think about what I need to bring vs. what I want to bring. Approx. Dimension: W 200mm x H 180mm x D 100mm.

I finally made a harder leather phonecase. This time I added a snap button and a piece of thin leather as a pulling mechanism. Definitely need to work on a better pulling mechanism. It is easier to pull the phone out when the leather gets more wore and used. Working on a pouch that can be wore with a belt. I recycled some scrap leather pieces for this. Will post finished photos of it later.
